See exactly what comes in the Yeti 1500 + Nomad 400 solar generator kit, how the components work together, and who this mid-size solar generator is best for.
Quick Answer
The Yeti 1500 + Nomad 400 Solar Generator includes the Yeti 1500 power station and a foldable Nomad 400 solar panel. It's a complete mid-size solar generator for quiet, gas-free power at camp or home.
Why This Kit Works Well Together
Pairing the Yeti 1500 with the Nomad 400 creates a balanced solar generator bundle. The 400W panel is sized to recharge the Yeti 1500 reasonably fast on sunny days, while the power station provides enough capacity for running small appliances, charging devices, and powering lights.
Because the Nomad 400 folds up, it's easy to transport and set up. This makes the kit practical for camping trips or as a backup power source at home, without the noise and fumes of a gas generator.
What the Nomad 400 Brings to the Kit
The Nomad 400 is a folding solar panel that deploys quickly and packs up easily. It's designed to be portable, so you can move camp or store it without hassle.
With 400W of solar input, the panel can recharge the Yeti 1500 significantly faster than smaller panels. This means you spend less time waiting for power and more time using it.
Trade-Offs to Consider
While the Nomad 400 is powerful, it's also larger and heavier than smaller portable panels. If you need ultra-lightweight gear for backpacking, this kit may be overkill.
The Yeti 1500 has a substantial capacity, but it's not the largest in the Yeti line. If you need to power heavy appliances for extended periods, you might want to consider additional battery expansion options.
Decision Rules for This Kit
- If you need quiet, gas-free power for camping or basecamp: Choose this kit. The Yeti 1500 + Nomad 400 provides clean, silent power for devices and small appliances without fumes. Check the Yeti 1500's capacity against your daily power needs before buying.
- If you want fast solar recharging: The 400W Nomad panel is a strong match for the Yeti 1500, reducing recharge time compared to lower-wattage panels. Plan for sunny conditions; recharge times will vary with weather.
- If you need ultra-portable gear for backpacking: This kit is not ideal. The Nomad 400 is larger and heavier than compact panels, so consider a smaller setup for hiking. Look for a lighter solar panel and smaller power station if weight is critical.
